Use the Proper Tools to Avoid Pain
Meditation, yoga and Pilates have become the most popular routines for health. They not only address physical health but also mental health, spiritual health and emotional health. With physical benefits being the first reasons why people do these routines, it’s important that you make use of an exercise mat. No amount of deep meditation will be able to replace your overall health like when you sprain your ankle or bruise your fibula doing yoga moves. When you have the right meditation mats, nothing stops you from reaping the benefits.
Ankles Can Get in the Way of a Useful Meditation Session
If you’ve read the books on meditation, there might be some that don’t really emphasize the importance of having an exercise mat when you’re doing the routines. It’s all full of Buddhist prayer and information about theta waves. You might just be standing in a yoga pose or sitting on your buttocks but when you have your legs crossed in front of you, the effects are very bad on your fibula. Your ankle is in the way of you keeping your legs flat on the floor. From that discomfort, you’ll have more serious and bigger problems in the future.
–This is where I picked up my zafu and zabuton. The fabric is durable and I got my cushions in time for a local group meditation. Everyone oohed and aaahed of how cute and comfortable they look. Let me tell you a secret: they are! Check out their selection here.
Avoid Unnecessary Pain
You can get the best meditation ever when you come equipped with the right tools. You have to be dressed in comfortable clothes although they don’t have to be baggy and too loose. No matter how much you move and position yourself following the meditation guide to the letter, you wouldn’t have unnecessary pain in your body when you have the exercise mat or even a zabuton. If you picture a traditional Japanese man or woman sitting at floor tables having tea, they’re not sitting on the hard floor, they have implements like the zafu or a cushion.
Protect Your Spine, Protect Your Joints
Other than your fibula, you’ll have many different problems with your body when you continue the routines with yoga, meditation or Pilates without even as much as floor pillows to sit on. On the hard floor, even if it’s made out of wood, you can still get muscle damage, joint damage and bone damage. Most especially, you have to make sure that you protect your spine in the routines where you have to lay on the ground. Bear in mind that exercising on the wrong kind of flooring, you can get degenerative disk disease, arthritis, and also breakdown of the cartilage in your knees.
–Here is a selection of meditation benches
featured on Amazon. They range from very portable to very stationary. Most benches allow for you to slide your bottom legs under the bench aligning your knees on a vertical plain instead of the diagonal path that lotus-type seating promotes (with the cushions and full-meditation chairs).
Buffer Your Rump
Practicing meditation, even when you’re using meditation beads, you have to have a nice and comfortable cushion to sit on. You can buffer yourself from all the physical problems you get with exercising on the floor by getting an exercise mat or a small round cushion for your tooshie.

I have always used mindfulness to become part of
the moment of doing something and fully engaging.
For instance, when drinking tea or coffee, fully
become aware of all aspects of the preparation,
pouring, and drinking without thinking of
something else. Just be present, its a great
exercise and then return to the breath when
needed.
i used to do exercise mat to achieve deep relaxation with way inhaling exercise outdoor every morning. i get benefits for my health, physic or mental. and of course, must be combined with other exercise and maintain quality of our nutrition. thanks
